KEM TECH'S NSB is a Stabilized Patented Non Sporogenic Bacteria. Provides optimum degradation of Fats, Greases, Oils and Petroleum Hydrocarbons.
The patent was issued around the ability to stabilize live vegetated microbes in a liquid form that allows the ability to more effectively utilize widely recognized technology for degrading petroleum hydrocarbons, fats, oils, greases and other stubborn organic compounds. This patented stabilized technology provides unique benefits vs traditional spore based systems, thereby providing the next generation of microbial based products.
The majority of current grease trap and drain maintenance products are based on sporogenicbacteria technology. Although this technology has been used successfully in these applications, the NSB technology offers the next generation of grease trap and drain maintenance products. Thebenefits of NSB provide the end user with more confidence, consistency and lower costs.
No germination time required. NSB are supplied as live microbes so metabolic activity (degradation of waste) begins immediately. Traditional spore technology begins to germinate relatively quickly but normally requires up to 24 hrs. to generate metabolic activity. NSB results in faster and more efficient grease trap and drain line maintenance.
NSB has the ability to more completely metabolize fats, oils and greases, resulting in a further reduction or elimination of odors.
Excellent performance in varying pH and temperature conditions. See attached metabolic activity graphs.
The majority of current spore based products for grease trap maintenance, are dosed after the establishment has closed. This is required with sporogenic bacteria due to the mandatory time required for germination and metabolic activity to occur. This is also the time that cleaning is done which can involve high pH products, quaternary based disinfectants, chlorine based sanitizers, etc. Although sporogenic based products remain in the spore state and may be protected from these cleaning and sanitizing compounds, they also cannot germinate from the spore state. If they have germinated, then they have the potential of being destroyed by these cleaning and sanitizing products, thereby providing less capability to be fully effective in the grease trap.
The use of live vegetative bacteria (NSB), allows the ability to dose the system , thereby providing a consistent and more effective means of maintaining grease traps and drains. The NSB technology provides metabolic activity immediately upon coming in contact with the food source.
It is also common for pH’s to vary in grease traps making it difficult for many traditional sporogenic products to provide optimum performance. As can be seen from the attached metabolic activity graphs, the NSB technology provides excellent metabolic activity across a broad pH range.
It works because IMPACT-DMC contains NSB. The patented live vegetated microbes used in IMPACT-DMC immediately begin forming a biofilm of beneficial bacterias. Upon contact with a viable food source such as fats, oils and greases found in drains and grease traps the metabolic activity ( degradation of waste) begins at once.
The application of IMPACT-DMC allows for complete contact time of all areas of the drain. This guarantees a uniform dosage of microbes on surfaces where contact is made. Once the drain has been treated the remaining vegetated microbes move down the drain line and form micro colonies in the main drain line, in any side lines that exist and the primary grease trap. As this biofilm develops it very quickly out competes contaminated bacteria for the nutrients they require. Once this takes place, odors are eliminated ( odors will begin to cease in approximately 2 days), the breeding grounds for drain flies are eliminated and pathogens such as E-coli, Listeria and Salmonella are deprived of the nutrients they need in order to survive.
The use of IMPACT-DMC for drain maintenance provides long lasting results. Once the healthy biofilm has been established the imbedded microbes do not get flushed down the drain . This same biofilm continues to degrade fats, oils and greases converting them to carbon dioxide and water. Grease traps maintain healthy bacterial colonies reducing the number of pump outs and cleanings.
